Hebrews 11:3
“Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” Psalm 31:24 “Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.”
The root problem facing our nation today is a lack of faith and courage. Our job as citizens is not to “win” every election, or every battle. It is not to vote for or support “the lesser of two evils.” You still get evil. Our choices shouldn’t be based on “left or right” but right and wrong. Our moral and patriotic duty is to do what is right. We must restore our faith in our Creator, and He will give us the courage to do what is right.
President John Adams said it perhaps most simply:
“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” – John Adams, 1798
Our nation was founded on Judeo-Christian principles and values which can be found in the Declaration of Independence, which states,
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
The Declaration also explained what type of government would be required to secure those “unalienable Rights” immediately following the acknowledgment of where our “Rights” come from, to wit:
–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed…”
Prudence suggests we have three constitutions if the preservation of our constitutional republic and individual, unalienable rights and liberties are important to us:
1. our personal constitution (God’s Word) 2. our state constitution 3. our federal constitution The Preamble to the Constitution sums up our duty with these words: “to secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.” We should all spend more time learning and understanding all three constitutions if there is to be any hope of “our Posterity” experiencing the “Blessings of Liberty” we are allowing to be destroyed, and it starts with restoring our faith and courage.
